What sets Bbaug apart

Bbaug is built from Bb, D and F#. Bb is the root, D the major third and F# the sharp fifth. Said aloud, its notes are B flat, D and F sharp. Its three notes are four semitones apart. Move the shape four frets and you land on the same notes again.

From the low string to the high one you hear Bb, D, Bb, D and F#. Of the five strings you play, two give Bb, the note that names the chord. The lowest note is Bb on string 5 and the highest is F# on string 1.

In Bbaug, string 4 is played open and adds D. Avoid string 6. Everything fits between frets 1 and 3. The second shape on this page starts at fret 3.

From Bbaug to Bb only two strings change, 4 and 1. It shares two notes with Gm, Bb and D. Going to Gm, two positions stay the same.
