CifraLab Privacy Policy

Last updated: October 8, 2026

At CifraLab, we design musical tools that respect your privacy by default. Your practice is yours.

1. How CifraLab Works

Chord calculation, sound, and harmonic analysis are all done on your own device, in your browser, or on your phone. The website does not have user accounts. The Android app offers an optional Google sign-in. If you use it, a small amount of data is stored on our servers, as explained in the app account section.

2. Local storage in your browser

The website does not have accounts or registrations. Your choices and progress are saved only in your browser, using localStorage, and are not sent to any server. This includes language, sound type, tempo, light or dark theme, and course progress. The characters also save their settings there.

They remember if they are activated, still, or quiet, where you left them, your game record, the days you've returned, and the phrases they've already told you, so they don't repeat themselves.

The search engine in their menu uses an index from the site itself and does not save what you type. The tuner uses the microphone only while it is on and after you grant permission. The sound is analyzed on your device to calculate the note.

It is not recorded, not saved, and does not leave your browser. You can delete all of this whenever you want by clearing site data in your browser settings.

3. Contact form

If you write to us from the contact page, your name, email and message are sent through the FormSubmit service to our address [email protected]. We only use that information to reply to you and never share it or use it for advertising. You can also email that address directly.

4. Google Drive Backup

This only applies to the Android app. The website does not request access to Google Drive. If you enable it, the app saves a copy of your songs in a private app space on your own Google Drive. It can also upload your practice recordings and videos to your Drive.

The app can only see the files it creates, not the rest of your Drive. These files remain in your Google account and under your control.

5. Your Account in the Android App

Signing in is optional and is done only with Google. We use Firebase Authentication for this, a Google service that receives your email, name, and an account identifier.

When you are signed in, our server stores your email along with your current course and level, so you don't lose your progress when you switch phones. When you purchase CifraLab Pro, the app sends the purchase receipt to our server to confirm it with Google Play.

We do not store payment information. The app also uses the microphone for the tuner and recorder, but only when you open them. Recordings are saved on your phone and are only uploaded to your Drive if you enable it.

6. Advertising and Advertising Partners (Google AdSense and AdMob)

To keep CifraLab free and accessible to music students worldwide, we display ads through Google AdSense (on the web version) and Google AdMob (in the mobile app).

Google and its partners use cookies and device identification technologies to serve ads based on a user's prior visits to this or other websites.

You can review in detail how Google manages data by visiting the official policy for partner sites: https://policies.google.com/technologies/partner-sites. You can also manage or disable ad personalization at any time through Google's Ad Settings or via our privacy and consent settings.

7. Secure Payment Processing (Google Play Billing)

This only applies to the mobile app. Any in-app purchase is processed exclusively by Google Play Billing. CifraLab never accesses, receives, or stores credit card information or bank details. All receipts and purchase management are centralized in your Google Play account.

8. How We Use Your Data and How Long We Keep It

We use your email and progress only to provide the service you requested, which is to maintain your account, progress, and subscription. Personalized ads are only shown if you give your consent in the privacy notice, and you can withdraw it at any time.

Messages from the contact form are used only to reply to you. We keep your progress as long as your account exists and delete it when you ask us to. Data passes through providers that give us hosting, servers, and the Google services named in this policy.

None of them can use it for any other purpose. We do not sell personal data to anyone.

9. Minors

CifraLab is an educational music website. The site can be used without providing any personal data. To create an account in the app, a child under 13 needs permission from their parent or guardian. In European Union countries, this age may be up to 16, depending on each country's law.

If you believe a minor has provided us with data without this permission, please contact us, and we will delete it.

10. Your Rights (GDPR, CCPA, and International Legislation)

You have the right to access, correct, and delete your data. Data stored in your browser or on your phone is deleted when you clear site data or uninstall the app.

To delete your app account and the progress saved on our servers, follow the steps on the Delete Account page at cifralabapp.com/eliminar-cuenta/, or write to us at [email protected] from the email address associated with that account. We will delete it and confirm with you when it's done.

You are responsible for deleting any copies in your Google Drive directly from Drive.

11. Privacy Officer Contact

If you have questions about this privacy policy or data processing at CifraLab, you can contact us directly at our official email: [email protected].
