What sets Gsus2 apart

The notes of Gsus2 are G, A and D. G is the root, A the second and D the fifth.

String by string, low to high, it plays G, A, D, G, D and G. Of the six strings you play, three give G, the note that names the chord. The lowest and highest notes are both G, two octaves apart, on strings 6 and 1.

The open strings add notes to Gsus2 too. String 5 gives A, string 4 gives D and string 3 gives G. Every finger presses at fret 3. There is one more position, starting at fret 2.

G is very close. You only move strings 5 and 2. Gsus2 and D have A and D in common. Moving to D, you keep one finger down.

You will find Gsus2 in ten different keys. In G major it is the Isus2, in C major the Vsus2 and in D major the IVsus2. The rest appear in the key list.
