What sets Baug apart

Baug is built from B, D# and F##. B is the root, D# the major third and F## the sharp fifth. Said aloud, its notes are B, D sharp and F double sharp. Its three notes are four semitones apart. Move the shape four frets and you land on the same notes again.

From the low string to the high one you hear B, D#, F##, B and F##. B rings twice across the five strings, and it is the root. The lowest note is B on string 5 and the highest is F## on string 1.

Baug lets two strings ring open. String 3 gives F## and string 2 gives B. Avoid string 6. Everything fits between frets 1 and 3. The second shape on this page starts at fret 4.

From Baug to B7 only two strings change, 3 and 1. It shares two notes with G#m, B and D#. The change that keeps the most fingers still is to E. One stays in place.
