What sets Edim7 apart

The notes of Edim7 are E, G, Bb and Db. E is the root, G the minor third, Bb the flat fifth and Db the diminished seventh. Said aloud, its notes are E, G, B flat and D flat. Each note sits three semitones above the one before. Slide the same shape three frets and you get the same notes.

String by string, low to high, it plays E, Bb, Db and G. It runs from E on string 4 up to G on string 1.

Edim7 uses no barre and no open strings, so you can slide the shape up the neck without changing fingers. Strings 6 and 5 stay silent. Your hand covers two frets, from 2 to 3. This page has three positions. The others start at frets 6 and 11.

Change only string 2 in Edim7 and you have Edim. Edim7 and C have E and G in common. Moving to A, you keep one finger down.
