What sets Fsus4 apart

Play Fsus4 one string at a time and you hear F, Bb and C. F is the root, Bb the fourth and C the fifth. Said aloud, its notes are F, B flat and C.

From the low string to the high one you hear F, C, F, Bb, C and F. F rings three times across the six strings, and it is the root. The lowest and highest notes are both F, two octaves apart, on strings 6 and 1.

For Fsus4, your index finger barres fret 1. Everything fits between frets 1 and 3. Besides the main one there are two more shapes, at frets 1 and 8.

F is one change away. String 3 moves from fret 3 to fret 2, bringing in A, the major third of F. It shares two notes with Bb, F and Bb. Going to C7, three positions stay the same.

Fsus4 shows up in ten keys. In F major it is the Isus4, in Bb major the Vsus4 and in Ab major the VIsus4. The rest appear in the key list.
